FAQs

About NAH.SHUTTLE
What is NAH.SHUTTLE? arrow

NAH.SHUTTLE is the new demand-responsive transit service offered by NAH.SH GmbH. It is a pilot project funded by the State of Schleswig-Holstein. The aim is to provide a central digital access point through which people throughout Schleswig-Holstein can book their demand-responsive trips. NAH.SH is cooperating with municipalities from all over the state to integrate their transit projects into a Schleswig-Holstein demand-responsive transit app: NAH.SHUTTLE. Currently, NAH.SH and the State of Schleswig-Holstein are partners in two transit projects: “remo” in the Rendsburg region and “Smartes Dorfshuttle” in Amt Süderbrarup. The project partners include the counties of Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Schleswig-Flensburg as well as Amt Süderbrarup.

What does demand-responsive transit mean? arrow

Demand-responsive transit is the new and innovative way to travel on demand, using virtual stops and an intelligent routing algorithm to get you where you need to go while matching you up with people looking for a trip in a similar direction. All via a simple app.

What are the benefits? arrow

You’re flexible. Book NAH.SHUTTLE when and where you need it. It saves you time. NAH.SHUTTLE adapts to your schedule. One click on your smartphone is all it takes to book: NAH.SHUTTLE picks you up and takes you directly to your desired destination. By travelling together with other people and leaving your car at home, you reduce exhaust emissions and contribute to a cleaner and greener environment. Some of the vehicles that use NAH.SHUTTLE are also hybrids or fully electric.

What are virtual stops and how do I find them? arrow

The NAH.SHUTTLE’s points of departure and destinations are either virtual stops or existing bus stops. Virtual stops mark specific addresses that are stored in the system but are not directly physically visible or publicly marked. Before booking the journey, the starting point, i.e. the virtual stop, will be displayed. This is where you will be picked up. The end of your trip is then at a virtual stop near your actual destination. Over 500 virtual stops have been set up in Amt Süderbrarup and over 900 have been set up in the Rendsburg region. The virtual stops are located at approx. 250m from each other. They are displayed in the NAH.SHUTTLE app.

Where does NAH.SHUTTLE operate? arrow

The demand-responsive transit service of NAH.SHUTTLE started in August 2021 as “remo” in the Rendsburg region, which includes the towns of Rendsburg and Büdelsdorf, as well as the municipalities of Borgstedt, Fockbek, Nübbel, Schülp, Westerrönfeld, Osterrönfeld, Schülldorf, Schacht-Audorf, Rickert, Jevenstedt, Hohn and Alt Duvenstedt.

NAH.SHUTTLE also operates as “Smartes DorfSHUTTLE” (Smart Village Shuttle) in Amt Süderbrarup in the County of Schleswig-Flensburg.

When can I travel with NAH.SHUTTLE? arrow

It depends on which service area you are in.

  • You can travel with “remo” in the Rendsburg region at the following times:

Fri: 9:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. the following day

Sat: 9:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. the following day

Sun: 9:00 pm – 12:00 am

  • You can travel with “Smartes DorfSHUTTLE” in Amt Süderbrarup at the following times:

Mon – Fri: 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Sat: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Sun: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

How much does a ride cost? arrow
  • In both NAH.SHUTTLE service areas, passengers pay the following prices for a ride* (prices reflect the SH tariff):

Price per adult (aged 15+): €2.30

Price per child (between six and 14 years): 1,40 Euro

Price per infant (under six years): 0 Euro

*For rides between tariff zones, the price will be automatically adjusted upward accordingly. This is valid for rides with remo between Jevenstedt, Hohn and parts of Alt Duvenstedt. The highest price for a single ride between tariff zones for an adult would be €5.10, while the highest price for a child/ for a dog would be €3.10.

Are SH-Tarif tickets also valid for NAH.SHUTTLE? arrow

Yes, NAH.SHUTTLE is integrated into the SH-Tarif system. This means that daily, weekly, monthly tickets and other valid tickets of the corresponding fare system are recognized upon presenting them to the driver. If you do not have a valid ticket, you can buy one before starting your trip, for example at www.nah.sh.

Are children under six allowed to travel free of charge? arrow

Yes, up to three children under the age of six may travel free of charge and must always be accompanied by an adult. Passengers in this age group must always book a separate seat in the vehicle. Babies can only be transported in their own baby seat. One child seat per vehicle is available for children. No one is entitled to use the child seat.

Can I take pets with me? arrow

As NAH.SHUTTLE is a supplement to public transport, the same rules apply, and this means that our four-pawed friends are also welcomed to travel with us. Please note, however, that dogs may only be transported under the supervision of a suitable person. Dogs that may endanger fellow passengers must wear a muzzle. A “single child ticket” must be purchased for dogs. Guide dogs accompanying a blind person are always permitted for transport. Other animals may only be carried in suitable containers. Animals are not allowed on seats.

Can I travel on NAH.SHUTTLE with a wheelchair? arrow

Yes. Our demand-responsive transit partners in Schleswig-Holstein offer you the option of being transported with your wheelchair.

With ” remo” in the Rendsburg region, all vehicles are even wheelchair-accessible and one of the vehicles offers electric wheelchair access.  When booking a ride, simply indicate which wheelchair you have, and a suitable vehicle will come and pick you up.

Why is my home not in the service area? arrow

NAH.SHUTTLE currently operates in two regions in Schleswig-Holstein: the Rendsburg region and Amt Süderbrarup. The boundaries for the service areas are clearly defined and the vehicles therefore only transport passengers within these areas. In the coming years, we plan to enter further partnerships and integrate more service areas in Schleswig-Holstein into our app. Keep an eye out for your region to become the next NAH.SHUTTLE partner region.

How many passengers will I be sharing the ride with? arrow

It depends on how many other passengers book a similar route as you at the same time. You can find more information about how many seats the vehicles in our partner regions have on their respective websites:

For “remo” in the Rendsburg region: www.rendsbus-eckernfoerde.de (only in German)

For “Smartes DorfSHUTTLE” in Amt Süderbrarup: www.smartes-dorfshuttle.de (only in German)

Why can't NAH.SHUTTLE pick me up directly at my front door? arrow

NAH.SHUTTLE is not a taxi service. Even though our partners include local taxi companies, we transport people according to the laws of public transportation, which means that pick-ups and drop-offs take place at predefined stops, which also include virtual stops. All stops can be reached by foot within minutes. The use of virtual stops also contributes to the efficiency of the demand-responsive transit service.

Can I take my bike with me? arrow

That depends on the service area you are travelling in. In the Rendsburg region, for example, three of the five vehicles have bike racks. Unfortunately, the app is not yet able to assign people with bicycles to specific vehicles. Therefore, if you have a bike and want to take it with you, simply call 0431-66019-93 instead of booking via the app, let us know and we’ll take care of the rest.

I left my belongings in the vehicle. What should I do? arrow

Call us at 0431-66019-93 or email us at nahshuttle@nah.sh and we’ll help you find what you’re looking for. Please note that we can process and reply to e-mails regarding lost property requests that reach us after 6 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays on the following working day at the earliest.

What data is collected from users and what happens to this data? arrow

After downloading the app, the user enters the requested user data as part of the registration process. This involves data such as name, e-mail, cell phone number, payment data and, if applicable, special requirements (e.g., wheelchair user). All personal data processing complies with the legal requirements for data protection.

Data can be analyzed anonymously to improve the service, traffic planning or marketing activities. Further information can be found in the Privacy Policy.
